Exhibition Opening

We are blessed with the Courthouse Arts Centre which is a dynamic arts centre in the village where I live and this coming Sunday they have an exhibition opening which looks SO exciting.
I was in there during last week while the exhibition was being hung and all I can say is WOW!
The opening is this [...]

The Fat Bowl

Some time last autumn one of my favorite yarnies in the whole wide world gave me a ball of yarn from Ingrid Wagner, which in effect was  felted material cut into even strips. I was also given the gift of a size 35 mm crochet hook by Stephanie… I wonder if it was a conspiracy?
Anyway, [...]

Hooked On ‘Tyarn’

I have had this notion for a long time that I would be able to crochet something from old t-shirts. I have a bag of all-sorts for the manifestation and today was the day. Out came the scissors and the t-shirts were cut into appropriate strips making some fun tyarn (I mean, if yarn made [...]

The Plot Thickens Hyperbolically

I often wondered how I managed to become so deeply submerged in the woolly wonder of the Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef. The whole project has spoken to something deep inside of me from the word go. My free spirit, my love of the sea, my structured mind, my creativity, my sense of flow, my sense [...]

Blue Sky Wrap

Iceland is much on the map at the moment and unfortunately, it’s not always for a good reason what with the collapsed economy and Eyjafjallajökull sending ash plumes into the atmosphere causing havoc to much travel. I have dreamt of visiting Iceland ever since I was on the Faeroe islands. The rather hot underground of [...]

Fusion Of Knowledge

We had a great day in Studio 1 at the Science Gallery yesterday. Much crochet was done and another bit of coral was added to the Irish People’s Reef. Pretty, strong and striking colours. Yum! Reefers hooked up again and new reefers emerged. Love it!
And Peter was there to show [...]

Crochet-In at Science Gallery Today

We are having a Crochet-In at the Science Gallery today. I’ll be there, will you? If you are there, come and say hello in Studio 1!

I made another one. I had to!
Lucy Coralium © 2010 Irene Lundgaard
On Friday when Lucy was preparing for the Saturday spinning class I watched her working her magic on the merino rolags that she made by picking pieces out of the box of mixed fibres. She gave me the 31 grams of pretty [...]

A Bellyful Of Warm Tea

A long time ago I made a simple beginners pattern for a Tea Cosy. I made it in a turf brown Kilcarra Aran Tweed (can’t beat that yarn) with a pink tie. It’s an easy pattern but the other day, when I had the sample in my hand, I thought it looked terribly tired and miserable [...]

Golden Hyper Doily

My Great-grandmother was a fine crocheter as was my granny and  I am the proud owner of some fancy doilies and runners that my darling granny made for me. I remember as a little girl sitting beside her watching her churning out rounds and rounds of beautiful fine lace with her tiny steel hooks. I [...]
