Robust Love Hearts

I’m preparing the Tunisian Crochet workshop for Denmark at the end of March and felt I needed to have something new up my sleeve for it. Out came the brutish 10mm hook, the Alafoss Lopi and the love hearts. It is Valentines tomorrow too and my sofa could do with a bit of an “update” so I combined the two…

The rather boisterous front and the toned down back will prop me up on the sofa just nice and cosy.

It’s a beginner’s class so I didn’t want to make anything too complicated and it isn’t. That is, if you don’t consider very much end-away-weaving complicated… I feel another simpler project lurching and I feel a “His and Hers” job coming on.

The cushion is worked in Tunisian Simple Stitch (TSS) in Alafoss Lopi from Istex. I used a 10mm hook to lighted the otherwise heavy fabrick that TSS normally makes in a chunky weight yarn. The cushion measures 50×50 cm. I have not weighed the cushion cover but I gauge it took some 400g of yarn. The technique can best be described as Tunisian Crochet Intarsia. I am currently finalizing the pattern which will be available soon, I just need to test a few critical points before it’s released into the wild.
