Schedule Spring 2013
This is my crochet class schedule 2013. This will be fleshed out further with workshops elsewhere later on, but for now, it’s looking like this:
April/May 2013
It’s that time of year again, time to think about keeping warm and why not combine that with hook and wool to stay warm and get the added benefit of achieving great hooked things at the same time?
Thursday Mornings 10.30 – 12.30
Tinahely Farm Shop, Tinahely, Co Wicklow
Thursday Evenings 8.00-10.00
Market Square, Tinahely, Co Wicklow
The theme for the February/March run of classes will be Crochet Living With A Flower Twist.
Tre will be an emphasis on learning new stitch combinations and techniques and we will have fun using rope and alternative materials as well as some fun Free Form Crochet.
Beginners will get a thorough grounding in Classical Crochet, learn all the stitches, increasing/decreasing, reading patterns and crochet charts and fine finishing.
Everybody will get completely hooked!
Price for absolute beginners is €65 (all materials included) and €55 for continuers (bring your own yarn + hook) or drop-in classes at €15.
Pre-booking essential contact Irene: 085 769 1854 / Irene@yarnclasses.com.

Tunisian Crochet
Tunisian crochet is a cross between knitting and crochet. The distinctive fabric created by this technique looks woven and has very many uses particularly in soft furnishing, bags and not least jackets as well as the traditional use of blankets. Tunisian crochet is typically worked on a long hook with a stopper on the end – similar to a knitting needle.
The techniques taught will be classical Tunisian Crochet and there will be an emphasis on colour work (including intarsia) and texture as well as an element of design.
Day 1 Basic techniques
Day 2 Working circular including designing your own hat or bag.
Materials needed
Double ended Tunisian Crochet Hook size 5 or 6 mm and Aran weight yarn in different colours.
A limited number of hooks will be available for sale at the workshop.

Group Workshops:
If you have the people and the venue, I have the skill and materials and will travel to teach. I am always available to customize Master Class workshops for craft groups, colleges, yarn shops etc.
Workshops range from teaching complete beginners to crochet, to teaching specific techniques like Tapestry Crochet or Tunisian Crochet or perhaps a Freeform workshop. Best practice and good finishing is always included in my tuition as well as how to avoid repetitive strains, achieve beautiful drape in the fabric you are making and so on.
If you are interested in coming to me here in Tinahely, Co. Wicklow, Ireland as a group, I can also customize workshop packages, even including accommodation if that is needed.
If you are interested in workshops, please send me a mail at: irene@yarnclasses.com or call me on +353 (0)85 769 1854

Love your website.
Happy knitting

Uma, unfortunately, I have no crochet classes in Drogheda. Try and check out your local yarn store, they might have classes.
Sian, great you liked the swirly-whirly, they are great fun to crochet. As for the classes, we do have one day workshops at the Courthouse Arts Centre in Tinahely regularly, the next one is Sunday February 21st which might suit you? Otherwise, check out your local yarn store, they may have classes.

Hello Irene,
I used to do knitting before . I haven’t been doing much recently and i was wondering if you have any classes in Limerick.
with thanks,
Sara
Hi Sara,
I live on the East coast and have therefore no classes in Limerick. May I suggest you go to your local yarn shop, they usually have classes or alternatively, they might know where you can go in Limerick.
I hope this is a help.
Happy knitting,
Irene
I am very interested in attending a textile class or workshop in the middle of June 2012 in Copenhagen. I am especially interested in art crochet. Can you give me some suggestions? Thank you!
Hi Connie,
Unfortunately, I have no contacts in Copenhagen at the moment, but I will make sure to keep you posted. However, may I suggest you do a search on “hæklekurser i København” or “hæklekursus i København” that should throw up if there are any available.
Good luck with it!
Irene
