The Fat Plait Bowl

IMG_1977smallWhen I completed The Fat Bowl made from Ingrid Wagner yarn I had this notion that the lovely chunky Álafoss Lopi from Ístex would be ideal for making more of these bowls. I set forth and got myself two balls of the good stuff and went to work with four strands of yarn. My intention was to get a rigid fabric that would hold itself. I first tried on a 15 mm hook, which worked OK, but it did not give the rigid bowl I desired so I changed to a 10 mm hook.

The smaller hook was just a pure win although it was hard on the fingers as the hook needed much power and  attention when pulling it through the stitches. I love the rope look of the double crochet stitches and I simply adore the top row of delicious Vs working their way around the edge like a fat plait. This is an ideal little project bowl and it’s simply just fat!

I feel a bag coming on, one with handles and perhaps even an inside pocket. I just need to lay hands on some more yarn…
Don’t you just love an opportunity for a bit of stash increase?

Note: OKOKOKOK, I own up, the project in the bowl i a bit of hyperbolic crochet, have you a problem with that? #obsessivecompulsive
