Doily Doodles – Yarn Classes

I have been away for the last couple of weeks. I was in Denmark for a shot of family and hot summer weather and even managed to get a bit of colour on my nose… I was also in London for a happy shot of sisterly energy!

However, there is no travel without crochet and bringing a hook on the aeroplane is never an issue, unlike knitting needles, not when using Clover Soft Touch crochet hooks anyway.
I brought a ball of ecru DMC Babylo 40 and my 0.75 mm crochet hook – that is some 1167 meters of thread and many hours of crochet and boy did I have fun!

I made crochet doily doodles – they shaped themselves in my hands and I really enjoyed the process!

I have a notion that they are to be part of one of my contributions to Culture Night in Tinahely on Friday September 21st – or perhaps not. One thing is for sure, I have not finished exploring this fun form of free form crochet.

I have made my love of yarn and sense of fun an active part of my life by giving classes in what I master: Classical Crochet, including Granny Squares, Lace, Amigurumi as well as Tapestry Crochet, Freeform Crochet and Tunisian Crochet.

Best practice, pattern/chart reading and good finishing are always included in my tuition as well as how to avoid repetitive strains, achieve beautiful drape in the fabric you are making and not least, all the handy tricks of the trade.

I give one to one tuition as well as tailoring classes for groups. You can check out the Bookings tab on the site for details on current available classes.

I also teach Continental and Fair Isle style knitting.

Hyperbolic Crochet

The Irish Reef is currently exhibited at The Greenhouse, 17 Andrews Street, Dublin 2 where it will be on display until late 2011.

We are also looking for other places to exhibit The Irish Reef which is a satellite of the worldwide Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef Project created by Margaret and Christine Wertheim of the Institute For Figuring in Los Angeles.

The Irish Reef was brought into being under the auspices of the Science Gallery, an initiative of Trinity College Dublin.
