Im retiring this year and would like to take up knitting as a hobby, I see you have a class in Lisburn library, if I came along to it what would I need to bring as regards materials and fee.
Thank you

Mari, the groups listed on this particular page of my website are all knitting groups that meet around the country.
I am not sure that they all meet still, but to the best of my knowledge they do. The way it usually work is that you just show up with your handicraft and join the group. There is normally no tuition at groups unless a tutor has been brought in to teach a specific task. It is usually a social yarn group and everybody are welcome – yarnies are a social bunch.
I am sure the Lisburn group are more than willing to help you along! Just bring yarn and needles to the next meeting. If you feel you need a class, try your local yarn store, they often have classes available.
Enjoy your retirement and not least that you have the time to have fun with your new hobby.
Have fun,

Hi mari

I am a member of the Lisburn knitting group (social events co-ordinator and bringer of buns). we don’t charge a fee and we don’t give formal lessons, but we have lots of members who are experienced in teaching both knitting and crochet. just come along with some brightly coloured DK and some size 4mm needles and we should be able to get you started! we’d love to see you

Hi Irene,
Do you know of anyone willing to teach knitting & crochet skills at beginners, intermediate & advanced levels. I want to set up workshops in Whitehead, county antrim but finding it difficult to get local tutors. I am happy to provide costs of tuition, venue & if needed materials. I am also interested in running works shops in other crafts

Kind regards,

Louise, I can’t help you locally as such. But I might be able to help you assemble a group of yarn crafters for one off workshops if that is of interest? I will send you a mail this evening about details.

Hi Irene!
Just want to know is the any particular age you have to be you see I’m 12 and I would love to join the Longford group with my Mum!!
Thank you!

Hi Charley, great to hear that you knit! You will have to contact the Longford group together with your mother to find out if they have an age limit.
Have fun!

Hi I was wondering if the rainbow club in Limerick is a knitting club or if anyone knows of any. I would be interested in joining. Thanks bored Limerick woman.

Hi, I am looking for a knitting club in the Kildare/Newbridge area. Does anyone have any suggestions ? If there isn’t one – is anyone interested in starting one?

Rita, unfortunately, I don’t know of any groups there, I hope you have managed to set your own group up.

Hi Catherine, if you are interested in classes in Wexford I would be happy to travel to provide class if you have the people and the venue. I need a minimum of 6 people in per class. You can drop me a mail and we can either work out a class to suit your needs.

Hi there
I run a knitting group – The Cast Offs – in Roscommon town. We meet every Friday morning at 10am in Gleesons Coffee Shop in the square.

All are welcome just cast on and come along!

Rita. There is a group that meet in Naas on a Thursday at 6.30 in “Treasure” ( a wool shop on the main street)just across from Kalu.

The museum of country LIfe is listed as the venue for a meeting in Co Mayo, is this group still meeting please? Can you tell me who to contact, or do I just turn up.
