Yesterday saw our Sixth annual Christmas Spirit Fair at Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely, and what a spirit it was! The un-gritted mountain roads were black ice treacherous making movement fairly lethal. Never mind; Wicklow people are very special spirits as it turned out.
My stall at the Christmas Spirit Fair,
Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely
‘Hundreds of Thousands of Toxins‘ is decorative display
Most of the stall holders managed to make their way to the spectacular venue, they came by hook and crook and some managed to arrive on willpower alone. Wonderful people braved the roads in defiance to get to the fair, including our very own Nicknit with lovely family.
Unfortunately, we were missing no less than four stallholders including my dear friend and co-host, who was stuck up the mountains and whose stall was to be in aid of our local KARE centre. They lost all the plants to frost. A great shame for all four, but it was an even greater shame for the punters that did manage to get there…
We were lucky enough to have most of our usual kind and happy local patrons visit in spite of the road conditions, among them were mountain dwellers that made it down in their 4x4s, good friends, lovely people. Some walked, some nearly crawled, but they came and made the day and we are all very grateful and hope for a repeat performance next year.
Many random acts of kindness were performed all day.
That’s The Spirit!
Special thanks to Tina who stepped in at extremely short notice and saved the day by keeping us all topped up with ‘cuppas’ galore!
Happy Christmas Everyone!
