New Crochet Necklaces

I’m on a roll with these summer neck pieces. I like the simplicity of the grey linen and silver coloured beads – once we get the sun and a bit of a tan I think it’ll look great on some summer skin!

I have a bag of delicious Mulberry Silk, I have been stroking the cones for a good while wondering what to use these goodies for. Yesterday I completed this curry coloured piece and started a bright red one immediately after which I hope to have done later in the week.

Mulberry Silk is quite addictive and the colours are just so rich and delicious! It is the most delicious yarn ever. Probably!
It’s delicious to touch, it drapes elegantly, the colours are gorgeous. Just fabulous!

Note: These necklaces are for sale in the Deirdre Minogue Sale Shop in Tinahely, Co Wicklow, Ireland. The shop is open Friday and Saturday from 11 to 5.

Crochet Neck Pieces For The Shop

I love the fashion of statement jewellery, I have seen very many beautiful pieces but I rarely wear any myself as my neck does not like the weight, not even a fine little gold necklace with a small pendant does my neck like. However, I am a great woman for wearing scarves, my neck really like them but I find them a bit heavy for the spring and summer so over the last few weeks I have been playing with my hook to try and make a pared down version of a summer scarf.

The neck pieces are all made in either linen, cotton or a combination of the two. They are light and soft and then the pearls snook into the equation…

These two pieces are for sale in the Deirdre Minogue Shop in Tinahely, Co Wicklow.

No Idle Hands

I am busy teaching crochet these days and was delighted to have a great day in the Deirdre Minogue Shop in Tinahely, Co Wicklow on Saturday where my crochet sold well – I have a shop in Deirdre’s shop and love the concept of cooperation in that way!

My good sales on Saturday means some of the nicer pieces of mine are now sold and I am busy making something new – pink wild roses are on the agenda as a little reminder that summer is nigh!

However, I had a request for a few little crochet figures which I have to complete by the end of the week. The yarn is fine and there are many stitches to do. These two little people need a coat and a dress and a horse too…  No idle hands indeed.

Note: Deirdre Minogue’s Sale Shop, Tinahely, Co Wicklow is open every Friday and Saturday from 11am to 5pm. I man the shop every Saturday (although through May I will be manning the shop on Fridays) and I hope you call in to say hello if you are in the area!

Crochet Shop – Shop Crochet

Today I brought my very colourful current crochet project to Deirdre Minogue’s Shop in Tinahely. The project is a wrap in pinks and purples and orange and red and it’s quite in your face in the colourful fun sense of in your face! I tried to capture the colours with my camera, but did not completely succeed, put here is a taste of it. Sunglasses may be required!

I finally had a few pieces of crochet that did not have a name on them yet to bring to the shop. I updated the the Kelp & Sea Foam Wrap with a crochet brooch to keep it in place off one shoulder and then I teamed it up with a pretty little dress in jersey, pretty and simple.

I also brought a pair of delicious delicate turquoise fingerless mittens with me. They are in a hand dyed yarn and made in pure, soft merino in a lace weight.

Note: Deirdre Minogue’s Shop in Tinahely, Co Wicklow is open every Friday and Saturday from 11-6. I am in the shop every Saturday although through April, I will mostly be there on Fridays. Hope to see you there!

My New Adventure

I have always been a maker, I have made everything from papier-mâché puppies to stencilled postcards but yarn has always been my staple medium for making – be that in knitting or in crochet. Crochet, in latter years, has taken the largest chunk of my maker energy as I always have to be ahead with new ideas for my classes and workshops and then there is the odd pattern that runs off the hook too.

I am often asked if I sell my work, which I have not done much but that is all changing now as I have started selling my crochet in Deirdre Minogue’s Sale Shop in Tinahely, Co Wicklow which is full to the brim with gorgeous and distinctive clothes at reduced rates.

I have a nice space in the shop where my unique crochet is on display. At the moment I have focused on pretty flower hair-bands along with scarves, hats and some fingerless mittens too – and there are hand knit socks on offer as well! Everything is made in natural fibres be that flax, wool, cotton, alpaca, silk and mohair and many are one off pieces, never to be replicated. My stock and range will build up as I get the hook going.

The shop is located on Bridge Street in Tinahely, just on the left as you enter the village from the bridge and it’s open every Friday and Saturday from 11am – 5pm. I will be manning the shop on Saturdays and I hope you will join me, come in and say hello, I’d love to see you there!

I will be selling items in my Etsy Shop too, however, for the moment, I have to focus on making, but I will let you know when I have stock available on Etsy too.

Note: Regular crochet classes are still available, details can be found here!
